Emma Young, a senior at Round Valley High, won the Division 4 girls discus throw title with a mark of 110-7 (33.70m) at the Arizona Interscholastic Association State Championships at Mesa Community College. Young, who had never surpassed 100 feet before this season and placed sixth at last year's state final, improved more than two feet to prevail at the same venue where her father Joe played football. Young is headed to Snow College in Utah to play soccer.
